Privacy
The shortest privacy policy you’ll read this year.
What we collect
Almost nothing. No accounts, no cookies, no ad trackers, no fingerprinting. We don’t know who you are, and we like it that way. The one exception is the wishlist — see below, and only if you use it.
What stays on your device
Your cellar and your currency choice are stored in your browser’s local storage — on your device, never sent to us. That storage is strictly necessary for features you explicitly use, so no consent banner is required (§ 25 (2) TDDDG). Delete it anytime via “Empty the cellar” in Settings, or by clearing your browser data.
Hosting & traffic statistics
This site is static files served by Netlify, Inc. (USA), under a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). Like any web server, it processes your IP address to deliver the pages (legitimate interest, Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR) and keeps short-lived technical logs. Because Netlify is a US provider, this involves a transfer to the United States — safeguarded by Netlify’s certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the EU’s standard contractual clauses. From those server logs, Netlify Analytics gives us aggregate traffic statistics — page views, top pages, referrers. Counted on the server, cookie-free, no script watching you, never tied to a person. Fonts are self-hosted — no requests leave for Google or anyone else.
Outbound links
Price-check links go to Wine-Searcher, Vivino and Google Shopping. Once you click, you’re on their turf and their privacy policies apply.
The wishlist
If you ask us to profile a bottle we haven’t got, we store the wine name you typed — and, only if you choose to leave it, your email address, so we can send you a one-off heads-up when the bottle is live. Submissions are processed by Netlify Forms (Netlify, Inc., USA — under the same data processing agreement and US-transfer safeguards as the hosting above). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR — steps taken at your request. No marketing, no newsletter; addresses are deleted once the heads-up is sent. Change your mind sooner: hello@tedium.ventures.
Price reports
If you tell us a price looks wrong, we store what you send: which bottle, the price we were showing, the price you saw, and the shop or link if you name one. No email address is asked for and none is needed. Submissions are processed by Netlify Forms (Netlify, Inc., USA — under the same data processing agreement and US-transfer safeguards as the hosting above). Legal basis: Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR — our legitimate interest in not publishing wrong prices. Reports are deleted once the price has been checked.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection — though with nothing collected, there is delightfully little to exercise them on. You may also complain to a data protection authority; the one responsible for us is the Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit.
